a special ingredient to the beautiful mind recipe: paola

Up to this point, Beautiful Mind was solely a place where you could get to know more about me and what I do. What do you know so far? Well, not much. You know that I’m Ulyana: your counsellor and nutritionist. What you don’t know is that above all, BM is at it’s core a project that aims to enrich and improve our lives. Are you ready for the transformation?

Thought so. Let me tell you more about the people behind Beautiful Mind. There are actually two of us. Right now, I would like to share how lucky I feel to call the person I am about to introduce to you my friend and my soulmate.

Meet Paola, inseparable of Beautiful Mind. Her input to the website’s blog extension lies in the core of what Beautiful Mind stands for. It is for you to have an opportunity to relate, learn and discover.

You will get to know Paola through her input. Until then, this is what we’ve got.

What does Beautiful Mind mean for you?

Have you ever been so excited to share a piece of information with someone that you cannot wait to meet them? That’s what Beautiful Mind is for me. A place where we all share inspirations and knowledge. How can we grow without both?

What will you be responsible for? What can we expect?

The two things I love doing are exploring artists and reading. I am by no means a professor on the history of art or a literature post-doc. What I’ll share with you is how I experience art in my own inner world. You’ll get to see a girl’s random-access memory from the latest exhibition or the bits of a book that really shook her.

You have 3-5 sentences to summarise your life. Go!

Born in Bulgaria, but on the go ever since. I grew up thinking I will become a journalist, but then I chose to study Mathematics and Business Analytics in London. I love to travel. I speak English, Bulgarian, Russian and a little bit of Hebrew.

Could you please share three facts we should know about you? Why these facts?

  1. I’m an introvert (this is how I approach the world)
  2. I have an ultra-squeaky voice when I speak to dogs *how can they be so cute* (an annoying trait)
  3. One of my favourite shows is Rick and Morty (fun fact: I went to an event that focused on a discussion of the philosophical and economic themes of the show)
  4. I don’t like rules

What advice would you give to your 16 and 21-year-old selves and why?

Don’t avoid conflict; how someone reacts is their own responsibility. Don’t be so afraid to make mistakes. Ask more questions.

You have an opportunity to change one event in history. What would it be?

I don’t like to think about what I can change if … I feel like it’s a slippery slope that feeds regret. We also lose the context of the time by looking in the rearview mirror. Having said that, I believe that we should learn from the past. Something I often wonder about is at what point was WWII preventable and why did we allow pollution to reach such levels?
