green smoothie // good mood, gut health, clear skin

I have had people asking me what is the recipe for my optimal green smoothie, it is time to share the recipe!

It took time to find and make a recipe from which your body can soak up all the vitamins, minerals, irons and the fatty acids properly. Different foods compliment each other when you eat them. When you eat certain foods alone the absorption of some vitamins and minerals isn’t as high and strong in the body then if you were to eat them together with another food. This smoothie is a perfect blend for ultimate absorption.

I drink this smoothie for about 3 years 4-5 days a week. Sometimes I add more ingredients, especially some adaptogenic powders or superfoods depending on what my body feels like that day, but this is always a stable blend to any smoothie that I will make. The smoothie will aid you to get clear skin, repair gut, balance hormones, loose weight and have a good mood. Remember our mood starts from a healthy gut.

Also, in my experience this recipe is not an expensive smoothie to make. Once you purchase some of the “powder” ingredients they will last a long time and don’t need repurchasing.

Recipe:

Half a banana
4-6 hand-fulls of frozen spinach
1 Tsp Kale powder
1 scoop vegan protein powder
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Cinnamon to taste (minimum half a teaspoon)
1,5 cup oat or almond milk and 1,5 cup water (can use 3 cups of plant milk instead of mixing with water)

I would like to explain the benefits of this smoothie and the nutrient power of the ingredients.

Bananas are high in potassium and give the smoothie a lot of sweetness. Bananas are great at fighting bodily infections and this covers everything from skin infections to bodily infections like a cold or sore throat, certain bacteria build up. The reason to put only half a banana is to avoid any yeast infections which can show up on your body, face, private areas. Yeast is over production of sugar, bananas are high in fructose and too much of fructose in one serving is hard for our body to digest. I like to leave the option open to eat some more fruits throughout the day.

Frozen spinach blends a lot better in smoothies, has a higher nutritional density and the digestive enzymes it contains are still alive. It is high in fiber, magnesium, zinc, antioxidants, vitamins A, K and E. It is anti inflammatory, very often our system is fighting an inflammation we don’t know about. Spinach promotes healthy blood cell count which is the foundation to a healthy body.

Kale has 3 grams of protein and fiber per serving, it is high in folate, vitamin A, C, K and B. Kale is very cleansing to the body and helps support a healthy digestive tract which means that your body will be properly cleansed. Kale is the secret to support clean gut and have clear, glowing skin.

Hemp Seeds contain 35% of plant proteins as well as essential fatty acids which is good for overall fitness and hormonal health. It also contains 9 essential amino acids which are responsible for internal balance, cell building blocks and proper movement. Hemp seeds are great to help with skin, muscle and hair elasticity.

Chia seeds also have certain amino acids, fiber, Iron and Calcium which is very important to consume enough of for someone who is dairy free. Chia seeds are a boost for the brain and provide the healthy fat our brains strive from.

Cinnamon is essential to regulate your blood sugar level and has been shown to significantly increase sensitivity to the hormone insulin. It is an amazing source of antioxidants and is essential to fight any inflammation. It is complimentary to all the ingredients above and best absorbed if taken with hemp and chia seeds.

The reason I use plant milk is because I don’t eat dairy daily and plant milk has added minerals and vitamins such as Vitamin D and Calcium.

The reason I add protein powder is because I don’t eat meat every day or every single week. Vegan protein is easy to digest and helps to fill the protein gap that you might have from not eating enough meat. Also, depending on the protein you use a lot of the smoothie flavor depends on it. A protein powder makes the smoothie a lot more creamier and delightful and can add a hint of chocolate, vanilla or caramel flavor based on your preference.

This smoothie is something I usually have as a meal or something I eat along a side of a meal in a smaller portion and have as a snack. It is my true secret and recipe to feel happy and my body to be healthy.
